Villa La Angostura sits on the Quetrihué peninsula, at the western end of Lake Nahuel Huapi, and is the starting point of the Seven Lakes Route toward San Martín de los Andes. Inside Los Arrayanes National Park grows the world's only pure forest of centuries-old arrayán trees, their cinnamon-coloured bark so smooth it looks painted.
Activities
- Hike or catamaran ride to the arrayán forest, also reachable by bike on a dedicated trail
- The Seven Lakes Route by car or bike toward San Martín de los Andes, with viewpoints over each lake
- Cerro Bayo: a ski resort in winter, trekking and downhill mountain biking in summer
- Kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding in the bays of Puerto Manzano and Bahía Mansa, with Tronador volcano in the background
When to go
December to March for lake activities and the Seven Lakes Route; June to September for skiing at Cerro Bayo. The arrayán forest can be visited year-round.
