Rafting on the Pastaza river from Baños (class III to IV)

The Pastaza flows down from the Andes towards the Amazon and is one of Ecuador's great rafting rivers. At the Baños office we fit you with a wetsuit, helmet, shoes and life jacket, then drive about 40 scenic minutes down towards the Amazon basin, along the Llanganates and Sangay national parks. At the riverbank the guide gives the safety briefing and we practise paddling before tackling the class III to IV rapids, in small groups with guides trained in swiftwater rescue. After the run we share a local lunch (vegetarian or vegan on request) and return to Baños.
