Nature

Maipú is Mendoza's closest and flattest wine area, ideal for cycling along dirt roads through low-trellis vineyards, century-old olive groves and irrigation channels. Unlike Luján de Cuyo, small and medium-sized family wineries dominate here, many open to visitors without a reservation.

Cycling from winery to winery, with bike rentals available in central Maipú (the bike Wine Route)
Visits to historic wineries like Trapiche or La Rural, with its Wine Museum
Olive oil tasting at family-run mills, another strong local tradition
Short horseback rides and sulky (traditional carriage) rides through the vineyards

When to go

October to May, avoiding the winter cold; March-April coincides with the grape harvest and the National Grape Harvest Festival in Mendoza city.
