On Lake Llanquihue, Chile's second-largest lake, with the Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes on the horizon. 45 minutes away, Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park: the Petrohué falls, emerald Lake Todos los Santos and the evergreen Valdivian rainforest.

When to go
October to April for trekking and water; summer has the widest choice of trips; winter is rainy but ideal for skiing on the Osorno and hot springs.
How to get there
Puerto Montt's El Tepual airport (PMC) is 25 minutes away, with frequent flights from Santiago (1 h 45). Buses from Santiago take 12 hours; from Puerto Montt, local buses every 10 minutes. The parks are visited on tours or with a rental car.
