Nature
Santiago is one hour from the high Andes: the Cajón del Maipo with its glaciers and hot springs, the Valle Nevado and Farellones ski resorts, and the foothills for day hikes. Towards the coast, Valparaíso and the Casablanca vineyards; to the south, the Maipo valley.

When to go
Year-round; spring and autumn for hiking and the city; summer for the high mountains; winter for skiing.
How to get there
Arturo Merino Benítez international airport (SCL) is 20 km from the centre: Centropuerto or Turbus buses (30 to 45 minutes), shared shuttle or official taxi. Metro and Red buses to get around the city; to the Cajón del Maipo and the ski resorts, shuttles or rental car (1 to 2 hours).
