Nature
Villarrica stretches along the western shore of the lake of the same name, facing the volcano, with black volcanic-sand beaches. To the south, Lake Calafquén and the resort of Licán Ray; towards the Andes, Villarrica National Park and its araucaria forests.

When to go
Summer (December to March) for the lake and beaches; spring and autumn for culture and fishing; winter to combine hot springs with snow in Pucón, 25 minutes away.
How to get there
Temuco airport is 1 hour away on route 199. Direct buses from Santiago (8 to 9 hours) and from Temuco every 30 minutes. Pucón is 25 minutes by bus or car along the lakeshore.
