Experiences and local guides in Valle de Uco

Mendoza's most sought-after high-altitude terroir: contemporary-architecture wineries above 1,000 m, with the Andes as a backdrop.

Nature

The Uco Valley sits over 1,000 metres above sea level, right at the foot of the Andes, giving its wines an acidity and freshness distinct from the rest of Mendoza. It's Argentine wine's newest growth area, with contemporary-architecture wineries designed by international studios, surrounded by terraced vineyards.

Activities

  • Tours of design-forward wineries like Salentein, Zuccardi or SuperUco, with art, signature cuisine and panoramic Andes views
  • Gourmet wine-paired lunches at winery restaurants, some internationally recognised
  • Trekking and horseback rides around Tunuyán and Tupungato, with access to the first Andean foothills
  • Stargazing under high-altitude skies, among the clearest in the province

When to go

October to April for mild weather and green vineyards; March-April for the high-altitude harvest, slightly later than the rest of Mendoza. Nights are cool even in summer due to the altitude.
